Hi Akuji - welcome to the forum
1 - There is a goth meet up once a month, probably worth you checking it out. As for places people hang out there is no central location as such
(other than being in the CBD in general I guess). Also depends on what you are into, if you are 18+ and so on. some people used to hang out at Gloria
Jeans (near Toys R Us in rundle Mall) but I'm not sure if they still do or if its often.
2 - They sell stockman's coats at Aussie Disposals and occasionally get in ex-Army trenchcoats if you are lucky. You could try Ebay maybe? Sweet Raven
or Quirky Stylin may be able to order one in for you. A lot depends on the size and style you want.
Hope that helps

Meet ups happen once a month and the details get posted up here in the gathering section. No news about Feb's meet up yet but details will be up
soon.
I'm sure Sweet Raven or Quirky Stylin have gothic style long coats. If they don't they could order one in. Details are in the thread about Adelaide's
gothic shops http://gothic.org.au/adelaide/viewthread.php?tid=186
Off with your head!

The Questions
Thanks :
The questions are;
1) What does the term ‘Goth’ mean to you?
2) What do you believe is meant by a Goth youth subculture? What would I need to do if I wanted to be accepted into this culture?
3) When and where did you find the gothic subculture and decide to be involved?
4) What inspired you to be a Goth? What aspects of Goth culture such as Music? Friends? Fashion?
5) Did you fit into the Gothic image by associating yourself with Goths? What changes did you make to ‘fit in’? Or did you not need to change?
6) How did you people [family, peers, work or school colleagues] react to the choice of being apart of the Goth subculture?
7) Has the gothic subculture changed since you first entered the subculture to the Goth subculture of today? How? What features specifically?
8) What is unique for gothic subcultures compared to other subcultures? Eg. Emo ,punk, surfies.
9) What is your favourite gothic music [bands, songs]? Why and how do you highlight this music for yourself?
10) Is there a favourite fashion style [eg, make-up, clothes, tattoos, boots / footwear, hair style etc] which is individual to you but links you to
the Goth subculture?
11) Is there a particular type of language linked to Goth subculture? Did you talk like this? Do you still talk like this?
12) Do you, did you hang out with other Goths? If yes where do you hangout and how many of you are there?
13) Have you been accepted into the Goth subculture?
The questions are also attached in a word document if that is easier.
Thankyou sooooooooooooooo much these answers are greatly appreciated.

A shortened version of the term 'Gothic'
2) What do you believe is meant by a Goth youth subculture? What would I need to do if I wanted to be accepted into this culture?
It's entirely up to you, be yourself.
3) When and where did you find the gothic subculture and decide to be involved?
When: No idea Where: The internet
4) What inspired you to be a Goth? What aspects of Goth culture such as Music? Friends? Fashion?
Nothing inspired me to be a Goth, I just met a bunch of people that had similar music, art, fashion tastes as I
5) Did you fit into the Gothic image by associating yourself with Goths? What changes did you make to ‘fit in’? Or did you not need to change?
I guess I ended up finding the shops (being new to having access to Adelaide and whatnot) so I could purchase the accesories and crap that I wore back
then. Not really sure to be honest..
6) How did you people [family, peers, work or school colleagues] react to the choice of being apart of the Goth subculture?
Since early teenaege times I've been told to 'Get a haircut' aswell as to 'cut those filthy nails'..
7) Has the gothic subculture changed since you first entered the subculture to the Goth subculture of today? How? What features specifically?
This book called 'twilight' was released, it went down from there..
8) What is unique for gothic subcultures compared to other subcultures? Eg. Emo ,punk, surfies.
Surfies? Aaah, if only I was a tad older in the early 90s...
9) What is your favourite gothic music [bands, songs]? Why and how do you highlight this music for yourself?
I guess I like the gothic music that is the gothic music, anything else would seem fake to me.
As for the bands, off the top of my head: Sisters of Mercy, Sex Gang Children, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds (If he/they count)
10) Is there a favourite fashion style [eg, make-up, clothes, tattoos, boots / footwear, hair style etc] which is individual to you but links you to
the Goth subculture?
No.
11) Is there a particular type of language linked to Goth subculture? Did you talk like this? Do you still talk like this?
No.
12) Do you, did you hang out with other Goths? If yes where do you hangout and how many of you are there?
Sometimes, around, a few.
13) Have you been accepted into the Goth subculture?
F#*ked if I know..
The questions are also attached in a word document if that is easier.
Thanks!
Appy-Polly-Logies if I've been rude with these answers. But the questions shouldn't really need to exist in my most honest opinion, 'less you're
seeing how we all are on this forum/around Adelaide.
It's all up to you, to answer them for yourself.
The most unique thing you can do is just that.

I think the questions are fair. They are doing research for an assignment and trying to get a broader picture.
From an outsider perspective (which the markers will most likely be) they won't know a lot of the obvious stuff and will most likely have false
stereotypes (based on what the media projects) that may differ from the truth.
I sent my answers privately but I'm happy to put them here if people really want to see them.

Hey there.
So, it's 2am Perth time, and I've decided to be awesome and proactive about my current predicament.
My name is NJ. I'm moving back to Adelaide, after an extended period of time, and I figured I'd poke my head in and say hi. So, hi! I move back in
late June, just in time for the midyear uni intake.
I put more info on my bio, so check it out.
And if this were real life, this is where I'd curtsey to say goodbye.

Hey y'all!
I just joint the forum and thought it might be best to introduce myself. I'm a German backpacker and live in Adelaide for a few month. I would love to
meet some gothics here since I'm travelling on my own and don't know any here. Furthermore I would like to find out about Australian bands or with
bands Australian goths are listening to.
Sorry about my English, I'm sill learning.

Welcome to Adelaide.
I spent a couple weeks in Germany last year, you are very lucky to be from a place filled with such a rich and amazing culture. It was 2 of the best
weeks of my life there.
I'm sorry to say that there aren't any goth bands in Adelaide that are currently performing live. There is lots of metal and indie and hardcore though
if you are into that.
If you are still here on July 31st maybe check out the Proscenium club, there is info in the club section of this website. Also Voltaire will be
playing here on August the 8th, info can be found in the 'other events' thread.
Have a nice stay, I will PM you with my facebook details.

Thanks for the nice welcome.
I'm going to stay in Adelaide for a while,so I've got enough time to check everything out.
My favorite music is industrial but I like to listen to metal from time to time, too.
I haven't been in a gothic nightclub since I left Germany but I hope I can change my boyfriends mind so he finally accompanies me to one.
Thanks for your help, I'll have a look your facebook account.

Hey everyone I am Malmignatte's "not so better half"
I am an Aussie but I am planning on going to Germany with her. I would love to meet some new people and I must say that she doesn't have to change my
mind about anything as I am actually quite bored and would like to see how you guys do things in Adelaide. I am originally from the Gold Coast and
Brisbane so i don't know much about this city.
Have a good one.
Shadow.

There is a fair bit on nowadays. Puls8 was on tonight and Attic tomorrow night, RvM and Proscenium on later in July.
Voltaire is playing in Adelaide in August so that should be good plus Necromancy is on at the end of the month (as well as other monthly events).
Its all in the event threads. The event organisers try to keep them up to date to keep everyone informed.
